I found magots in sauteed mushrooms in a jar?

my daughter and I love them so as we were eating them from the jar and ate half the jar and discovered that there was a maggot floating in the jar. We contacted the store where we bought them and they offered us coupons. We said no way, we were tramatized. they then sent out a photographer and he took pictures of the maggot. We recieved a call a few days later from thier insurance company that confirmed that it was indeed a maggot in the jar and wanted to give us $40.00s each and then sign a release form that we would not take them to court. We were affended by such a small amount of money and thought it was an insult. We said that we would settle for $250.00 each and they came back with an offer of $175.00 each. We are now leary of products from this company and my daughter has even has nightmares. Are we being swept under the rug or our we being unreasonable?
