How long does sperm live within woman? and is it to late to try and conceive?

The first day of my last period was Oct.30,09 and me and my bf had as soon as i saw the sticky eggwhite mucus stuff in my undies on nov.6 and 7 ( i umed i was ovulating) could of i not ovulated yet? my mucus feels like lotion between my fingers when i checked it out today, its starting to get thicker.. was just curious! tks
