I usually shave my area down there but I'm not sure anymore?

For the last months I've usually shaven my private area but I've noticed that every morning after I have red bumps down there. I use this razor that has soap around the blades and I know I'm not allergic to it. What can I do to prevent razor burn because it happens every time and it's really embarring. Please help!!!
