Can a person be seen as a beneficiary if their parent is beneficiary?

my boyfriend is in the US on a visa. his grandmother filed the 1-130 (which has been approved and sent to the department of state national visa) for his father. does that mean that he and his father are both beneficiaries of his grandmother?
